ICE ICE BABY –THE $12 SKINCARE HACK I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT!
I’ve been using this now insta-famous ice roller for years. As a big fan of benefits of ice in general, I wasn’t skeptical at all about how well it would work… I was only surprised at how obsessed I became with using it religiously.
Compared to other skincare devices the Ice Roller is cheap AF with a price tag of only $12.99 on amazon (linked below).
Here are the actual benefits of ice rolling your face…
THE BEST KEPT SECRET TO REDUCING FACIAL AND EYE PUFFINESS:
The ice roller’s main purpose is to reduce puffiness and inflammation. Over 90% of all people will wake up in the morning with inflammation and puffiness caused by lifestyle choices—I’m talking everything from food and alcohol consumption to even the way you sleep on your face at night. If your skin is super inflamed, whether it’s because it’s acting up or right after you’ve had a facial, an ice roller is the BEST way to help it recover. It’s not only beneficial for breakouts, but again, the massage part will stimulate blood flow and help speed the recovery process and reduce redness. Ice rolling my face for 2-5 minutes every morning has become a lovely highlight of every morning and my face instantly feels tighter and smoother.
AN ICY ANTI-AGING SECRET:
Since inflammation is one of the leading causes of aging, daily ice rolling can actually help prevent wrinkles and fine lines. Fun FACT, it also helps with other skin conditions like rosacea, acne and psoriasis.
THE ULTIMATE PORE MINIMIZER:
The cold temperature of the ice roller shrinks your pores! True it’s only temporary but, I guarantee all the products you’re applying to help reduce the visibility of pores will start to feel like they are working 100 times better if you ice roll pre-application.
DID SOMEONE SAY A MORE DEFINED JAW LINE?!?
I typically focus on the area around my eyes, forehead, and cheeks when I’m feeling super puffy but, that said, when you focus on your jawline it miraculously does tighten the area and lift your skin for a tighter jawline.
I try to avoid being hungover at all costs but, at 33, sometimes it’s inevitable and also really a struggle-bus. When I do wake up with a hangover, my ice roller gives me instant gratification and really does help relieve any hangover headaches, inflammation and puffiness. My hangover cure—Ice Roller + Celery Juice/Fresh Squeezed Lemon/Flavorless Pedialyte mixed + 2 Ritual Essential Vitamins for women + Vitamin B supplement + A self-heating SLEEP MASK.
ICE ROLL OUT THOSE MUSCLE ACHES AND HEADACHES:
I mentioned earlier that the ice roller helps for hangover headaches but it also helps with muscle and joint pain, too. You can ice roll your legs, back, arms, etc. – don’t limit your ice rolling to just your face!
How to use the ice roller:
1. Start with clean, dry skin. You don’t want your skin to be wet at all because, you know, ice plus water = freezer burn on your face.
2. De-puff in the A.M.. Really, you can use the ice roller any time, but I personally love using it as soon as I wake up to de-puff my face.
3. Use upward strokes. Just like with any skincare product or device, you want to go in an upward motion to prevent sagging skin and give the face a bit of a “lift”. Start by rolling your face in sections. Start near your nose and work outward. I like to roll under my eyes, and then let the ice roller just sit stationary under them for a few moments. Sweep it across your forehead. Do this until it gets warmer in temperature. Then, I wipe it off with a damp paper towel spritzed with a non-toxic cleaner and pop it back in the freezer.
